Sound Of Silver

LCD Soundsystem - 2007

Prior to Sound Of Silver, LCD Soundsystem was a punk, but still fun, dance act that was spearheaded by a very good young DJ / producer by the name of James Murphy. After the release of Sound Of Silver, LCD Soundsystem was one of the greatest bands of the 21st century and James Murphy was vaulted into legend territory. The LP is nine songs long, and each song is rich, catchy, ambitious, evolving, and has endless replay value. Time To Get Away and North American are two short (for an LCD track), but amazingly danceable and hilarious tracks that set the tone for the rest of the album, and centrepieces Someone Great and All My Friends are not only the greatest tracks written by Murphy, but arguably the two best songs of the millennium. Recently, James Murphy was quoted saying that he is "disgusted" with modern dance music, mostly because, he says, "it's too maximalist." And while some took it as an old man frustrated by the surge of EDM, anyone who can take a clunky piano loop and turn it into the closest thing to a perfect dance song you can get can say anything they want. Other producers may want to take notes. Favorite Songs: All My Friends, Someone Great Least Favorite songs: Get Innocuous!, Sound Of Silver Most Overrated song: Sound Of Silver Most underrated song: Someone Great
