Eagulls - 2014

This self-titled debut from the Leeds quintet is visceral and engaging. These lads draw heavily from post-punk and as such, their songs are appropriately raw. Fans of early Cure records will find this approach nostalgic and rewarding. The formula does wear thin toward the end of the album but you can’t deny the energetic push that comes from these ten tracks. It’s a strong start from Eagulls but they will need to find another gear for their follow-up.
