Kid A

Radiohead - 2000

Five notes. With just the first five notes of "Everything In It's Right Place" you could tell that you were about to truly experience something. After "Ok Computer" most bands would have stumbled, but Radiohead went to another level altogether. This album challenges how you listen to music. Lots of bands mess around with song structure and recording techniques, but few achieve the aural pleasure of this disc. I feel like a moron writing this blurb saying things like that, but I can't put it into words. "Kid A" is an experience. I remember where I was when I first heard it. We closed up Borders on a Sunday, opened up the new releases 2 days early, cranked up the volume, and didn't speak for the next 50 minutes.
