Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds - 2016

When news came out that Nick Cave's 15 year old son died tragically during the recording of his new album, you had to figure that the man who is practically a vampire would come out with his most depressing album ever. It is dark....very dark. The album was partially finished at the time of the death, but you can't help but feel the weight of the event all over the album. Like the Bowie and Leonard Cohen albums, you can't help but be affected by the story surrounding the album when you listen to it. It's sparse in production, as if Nick is just wading through his feelings, trying to make sense of what happened. In it's own way it's a beautiful album and my favorite Bad Seeds album in years.
