A Moon Shaped Pool

Radiohead - 2016

I am going to cop-out on this review, as there is little I can say that those that appreciate the brilliance of this album don’t already know. Radiohead find themselves again by stripping back the heavy production and electronic noise that had come to signify their sound on their two previous albums. Thom’s melodies are the highlight of the album, with each one instantly ingrained into the listener's ears. The music is hypnotic, somewhat morose, and knows exactly how to get out of the way of Yorke’s work while still sounding relevant and needed. As this is Radiohead, I have to be in a certain mood to be able to listen to the album in its entirety - a mood that I rarely find myself in these days, hence it is probably the least listened-to album I have ever put on a top ten list.
