Dua Lipa - 2017

A perfectly styled British pop album, where the catchiness of the compositions make up for Dua's good-but-not-great voice. Lyrically, she brings confidence and sass, expressing strong feminist themes, while also exposing herself at times as a true romantic. Grooves jump from one style to the next, so songs, when isolated, sound like they belong on an R&B, dance, or 90s pop album. This is a great throwback to a time when pop music wasn't merely hip-hop grooves with a singer instead of a rapper put on them.

Highlights: Thinking About You, Blow Your Mind (Mwah), New Rules

Negatives: Homesick (the closer of the album seems forced, as though they had to tick the piano ballad box)
